Building Community Readiness to Address Problem Gambling

Published: December 6, 2016

Many Ohio communities are struggling to address important issues—such as problem gambling, drug and alcohol use, HIV/AIDS, domestic violence and others—that impact community health and positive youth development. Be the 95% was created to help raise awareness to the issue of problem gambling and help provide resources to Ohioans who can benefit from its assistance.

A large part of this campaign is providing material to community partners throughout Ohio- so that they can all share a cohesive message and also share a common resource for problem gambling. In communities with new casinos and racinos, awareness and education is extremely important, and we want to make it easy for treatment agencies, local hospitals, private providers and even individuals to get the information that they are looking for.

If you go to the95percent.org you will be able to take the responsible gambling quiz that can help determine in under 2 minutes if you are a responsible gambler or someone who needs some assistance. For resources on community awareness- we have a toolkit that offers up to date materials for radio, TV, print and digital, to easily access the medium and target audience you are looking to reach.
