Congratulations to Before You Bet and all the Ohio NCPG award winners!

Published: August 11, 2022

At Before You Bet, we are proud that our state is a national leader in the field of responsible gambling. And in that same spirit of immense pride, we’re excited to announce that several Ohio organizations were recently recognized with four awards at the 2022 National Conference on Problem Gambling & Responsible Gaming hosted by the National Council on Problem Gambling.

Before You Bet was honored to receive the 2022 Corporate People’s Choice Award for the most popular print public awareness message, for a sub-campaign that was developed specifically to reach out to African Americans. The Ohio for Responsible Gambling collaborative of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Ohio Lottery Commission, and Ohio Casino Control Commission, along with coordinating partner the Prevention Action Alliance, and creative agency Origo Branding were pleased to share this honor.

The People’s Choice Award is given to a print campaign that reaches a broad base of gamblers and their families, regardless of whether it is aimed at a national, state, or local audience. Entries are evaluated based on their overall impact by the industry professionals who attend the annual NCPG conference.

Below is the an example of one of the campaign materials available with a variety of customizable assets in the African American Toolkit:

We are also proud to see other Ohioans recognized during this year’s conference. Additional award winners include:

  • Derek Longmeier, executive director of the Problem Gambling Network of Ohio, who won the prestigious Jim Wuelfing Annual Award for Prevention.
  • The Ohio Lottery Commission, which won the Corporate Public Awareness Award for its Keep It Fun Ohio campaign.
  • Stephanie Haney of WKYC-TV in Cleveland, who won the Media Award for special episodes of her show: 3 Things To Know Podcast that raised awareness during Problem Gambling Awareness Month.

We are so proud of the way Ohio continues to lead the way in responsible gambling and can’t wait to see what our state accomplishes in the future.
