Description:

With the expansion of gambling access and availability throughout Ohio, there is an ever-growing need for engaging in prevention efforts within communities to mitigate the harms. In this workshop, participants will discuss their community’s readiness to address problem gambling as well as what barriers may be obstacles to overcome. Capacity building specific your own local agency and ADAMHS Board will be identified and developed. This training will help participant’s learn how to integrate problem gambling into a broader prevention plan by adding to existing programming or creating new routes for outreach and prevention efforts.

Learning Objectives:

1. Review Community Readiness components and examine local readiness to address problem gambling
2. Identify stakeholders that can have an impact on readiness or programming
3. Analyze existing partnerships and programming to determine space for problem gambling integration
4. Illustrate ways in which to engage funders and stakeholders in prevention efforts
