SPFing Your Way Through Problem Gambling Prevention

During this workshop, participants will learn about the problem gambling service system in Ohio and review national, statewide and local problem gambling data to identify a problem of practice to help guide local prevention programming.

The Strategic Prevention Framework will be reviewed including assessing the nature and extent of problem gambling and related behaviors, risk and protective factors that influence these problems and behaviors, and existing resources and readiness of their communities to address its problems. Time will also be devoted to capacity building with a focus on engaging stakeholders and community sectors. The workshop will be interactive, with large and small group exercises aimed at increasing competencies for problem gambling prevention.

Professionals in the fields of prevention and education; county boards; and anyone wanting to learn more about problem gambling prevention.

Continuing Education:
15.0 CEUs are available for this training. Problem Gambling Network of Ohio is an approved continuing education provider through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board, Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board, and the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board.

Schedule:
This virtual training will run each day from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM ET with a 1-hour break from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM and two additional 15-minute breaks. Each day will consist of 5 hours of content totaling 15 hours.

Lead Trainer: Claire Spada, OCPS, ICPS
Claire is the Workforce Development Manager for PGNO. She has over 15 years of experience working in the prevention field in varying capacities and is an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant. She has a passion for educating others on issues that can greatly impact their lives including drug, alcohol, and gambling prevention, coping with emotions in a positive way, and empowering young people in leadership roles. In her current role, Claire oversees the Stages Training Series, provides guidance for ADAMHS Boards and providers on how to best integrate gambling services as well as coordinates the Ohio Problem Gambling Conference.
