Make Responsible Gaming a Priority
Published: August 6, 2018
Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW) is held the first week of August each year. This year’s celebration will run from August 6-10th. Created by the American Gaming Association (AGA), RGEW increases awareness of problem gambling among employees and patrons at gaming facilities throughout the U.S.
The AGA offers materials to support gaming properties and employees as part of the industry’s year-round dedication to promoting responsible gaming. The theme of this year’s RGEW is “Responsible Gaming: More than a Pledge, It’s Our Priority.” Materials are available to support the efforts of casino and racinos to implement successful RGEW measures. These materials can help increase awareness of the issues surrounding responsible gaming and are available in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Spanish.
The Ohio gaming industry supports nearly 20,000 jobs statewide and has a total economic impact of $3.6 billion, according to new Casinos & Communities research from the AGA. AGA’s Casinos & Communities report provides an in-depth look at how the gaming industry supports local communities through non-profit partnerships and local workforce initiatives. The report – the first of its kind – spotlights several partnerships the gaming industry has forged with local elected officials and non-profit leaders in communities that host gaming locations across the Buckeye State.
